Case Identification & Inclusion Criteria

How we decide which cases to include in our database.

We include past and ongoing cases from all recognised legal forums including national courts, regional human rights tribunals, and supranational constitutional or appellate bodies. Our goal is to capture how digital rights are being defined, contested, and defended across Global Majority jurisdictions.

To be included, a case must meet the following criteria:

  • Arise from a recognized legal institution (national, regional, or international)
  • Involve explicit questions of digital rights (discover our themes)
  • Contain a constitutional or statutory challenge involving digital technologies or digital environments
  • Have significance to Global Majority contexts whether by jurisdiction, precedent, or broader implications
  • Be supported by credible documentation, such as court rulings, legal filings, or reliable summaries

Where full legal texts are not publicly available, we rely on triangulated information from multiple reputable sources to ensure accuracy and context.

Our approach is dynamic and adaptive to the realities of legal reporting in under-resourced or emerging judicial systems.
